Construction Environmental Advice.

The issues?

With any construction project the work could:

  • Cause pollution to the ground or groundwater.
  • Be in breach of waste handling and disposal legislation.
  • Waste money on raw materials when others could be reused.

Materials management

In the past, many construction projects were guilty of wasting money on raw materials and failing to re-use and recycle materials available to them. In addition, poor storage led to materials being damaged and becoming unusable. Not only does this result in direct replacement costs, but invariably, it causes delays to the project. So, with this in mind, section three asks you to check and identify that materials are being used as effectively as possible.

Tip. Completing this properly will lead to triple savings: no re-purchases; no project delays; and reduced waste disposal costs.

Water

In particular, common site activities, such as washing down plant and vehicles, surface water run-off etc.

Tip. By analysing how you’re using water, you should be able to reduce the amount used and to control potentially polluted water more effectively.
