River Thames on the up as water quality improves

Environmental Agency Article:
Water quality in the River Thames area has improved over the past year, according to Environment Agency figures.

A report showing a resurgence in otter numbers, and the recent success for the River Thames in an international river award, are just two examples of how improved water quality is having a positive environmental impact. These are backed up by figures published by the Environment Agency on Friday for its classification of rivers under tougher new standards set out under the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD).

Environment Agency pledges focus on sources of river pollution through state of the art technology

Environmental Agency Article:

The Environment Agency today revealed that it will be deploying state of the art technology to help tackle diffuse pollution from farms and urban areas.

This is part of a programme of 8500 studies the Environment Agency will carry out to help improve the quality of rivers over the next two years.

Improvements in water quality over the last two decades have primarily been achieved through successful action on pollution from sources such as factories and sewage treatment works (‘point source pollution’).

Simple measures could save households £2 billion in energy bills

Edie.net article:

The Energy Saving Trust is claiming the nation could save more than £2 billion a year and hugely reduce its carbon emissions by taking 'simple steps.'

If every UK householder that could, insulated their cavity walls and lofts up to 270mm, replaced old fashioned bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and turned their appliances off standby, owners would not only save hundreds of pounds a year on their fuel bills but also cut nearly 10 million tonnes of CO2, equivalent to taking almost 3.5 million cars off UK roads.

* Is the quality of your cleaning far from what you expected?
* Does your cleaning contractor suffer from a high staff turnover?
* When you have a problem is anything done about it?
* If you tell the cleaner you are not happy do they bite your head off?
* Do you feel you are paying too much?
* Are the cleaning staff leaving early or arriving late?
* If the cleaning equipment breaks down is it repaired quickly?
* Are your cleaners often short of materials?
* Can your contractor provide all your cleaning and specialist services?

If these are the problems that you constantly face, then call us on 0800 542 4791 and we’ll advise you how to avoid them.

It's difficult to believe, but many cleaning companies will guess your needs and of course this will prove inaccurate. Either you can pay too much or even pay too little for a service which is inadequate for your company.

You can’t see what is required by sticking your head around the door and having a quick look, as most contractors do, and that's why you may be suffering from some of the problems above. At LCS we use the latest digital measuring equipment and we pride ourselves that your survey is both detailed and accurate.
